Sports usually tend to be really aggressive and physically challenging, but figure skating combines elegance and grace into it as well. It’s not to say that ice skating doesn’t require physical strength or stamina, but the routines look so effortless and the skaters look almost weightless on ice!
Figure skating is a much loved winter sport, and is even an Olympic event. French figure skaters Vanessa James and Morgan Cipres teamed up to fight for first place in the International Skating Union’s World Team Trophy 2017 competition in Japan. Their amazing routine blew the competition out of the water and left the crowd cheering for more.
Morgan helps Vanessa slip and flip around, and you can see that the bond between them is strong. The two are able to put a lot of incredible moves in their routines because of the level of trust they have with one another.
For the competition in Japan, they chose to skate on Disturbed’s rendition of Simon & Garfunkel’s classic song “The Sound of Silence.” They managed to perfectly orchestrate their routine using the epic music as the backdrop.
The audience in the back appears to be captivated by their routine. Let’s hope the judges feel the same way about it.
The soothing yet eerie feel of the song paired with their all black costumes gives a melancholic vibe to their stunning ice skating routine. Their initial spinning jump makes your heart stop!
Judges score routines based upon how effectively the different moves are completed and these two really nailed all of it. Their routine is simply flawless.
Morgan flips Vanessa up in the air as if she’s totally weightless. She lands back down on the ice on her blades so gracefully that you can’t take your eyes off them.
To be able to execute such a complex routine and make it look so easy is no simple feat. Check out their breathtaking choreography below and prepare to be blown away by this talented duo!
